With a 2:1 participant-to-instructor ratio, clinicians receive individualized chairside mentorship to refine periodontal and implant therapy skills, strengthen clinical judgment, and develop greater precision and confidence in a supportive learning environment.

A progressive combination of evidence-based education and mentored patient care, designed to strengthen clinical skills and their application within your practice.
PTM 101 – Creating the Foundation
Establish a shared foundation for evidence-based periodontal care, clinical decision-making, and effective practice systems.
PTM 102 – Fundamental Clinical Skills (Hands-on Clinical Session)
Refine instrumentation, ultrasonic technique, sharpening, ergonomics, and documentation to support effective, efficient care.
PTM 103 – Treatment of Maintenance Patients and Patients of Record (Hands-on Clinical Session)
Apply a structured approach to maintenance appointments through real-patient treatment and personalized chairside guidance.
PTM 104 — Treatment of Stage II/III Periodontal Patient (Hands-on Clinical Session)
Strengthen assessment, treatment planning, instrumentation, and patient communication through mentored clinical care.
PTM 105 – Finally… a Step-by-Step Implant Protocol
Develop a systematic approach to implant assessment, maintenance, and recognition of peri-implant disease.
PTM 106 — Implant Care and Periodontal Re-evaluation of Stage II/III Case (Hands-on Clinical Session)
Apply implant care skills and assess periodontal treatment response to guide ongoing care.
PTM 107 + 108 – Treatment of Stage III/IV Periodontal Patient (Hands-on Clinical Sessions)
Refine clinical judgment and advanced instrument selection and instrumentation while treating complex periodontal cases with individualized mentorship.
PTM 109 – Get OFF the 3-month Merry-Go-Round! Recognize the limitations of nonsurgical care and when further treatment or specialist collaboration is appropriate.
PTM 110 – Stage III/IV Periodontal Re-evaluation Case and Summary (Hands-on Clinical Session) Evaluate treatment outcomes and identify next steps for patient care and clinical implementation within your practice.
Program Format
52 hours of focused education and clinical development
12 hours of evidence-based instruction and 40 hours of hands-on clinical training with real patients, delivered across three independently scheduled training sessions.
Instructor-to-Participant Ratio: 1:2
Close chairside supervision allows for direct observation, personalized feedback, and refinement of each participant’s clinical technique.

Participants apply their learning in a familiar clinical setting, supporting the integration of stronger skills and consistent approaches into everyday patient care.
Flexible progression
The full program is recommended for comprehensive development. Sessions are booked individually, with dates and arrangements confirmed through a separate agreement for each session.
Schedule at a Glance
PTM™ is structured around evening and weekend training to minimize disruption to regular patient appointments. Participating hygienists and designated practice support staff must be available. Necessary breaks account for the difference between these 60 scheduled hours and the 52 instructional hours.

Eligible Alberta employers may be able to access funding for up to 75% of the tuition fee through the Canada–Alberta Productivity Grant. Patient Treatment Fees
The host practice determines whether patients are charged for treatment during clinical training. Any treatment fees collected remain with the practice, which manages patient billing, insurance submissions, and receipts.
Planning PTM™ for Your Practice
We begin with a consultation to discuss your practice’s goals, participant needs, and clinical arrangements.
The host practice provides the clinical facility and recruits suitable patients for the hands-on sessions. HYGIENE EXCEL provides guidance on patient selection and reviews proposed cases with the treating team before training.
Patient consent, scheduling, equipment requirements, and practice responsibilities are reviewed before booking. Each session is confirmed through a separate agreement.
